Body Beast 25 Minute Speed Train Hybrid
My new hybrid workout schedule is HERE – Body Beast 25 Minute Speed Train Hybrid!
Most of you that have been following me over the years know that I am a big fan of Body Beast given my current goals for muscle hypertrophy to add lean mass, but I am also focused on promoting a low (healthy) body fat percentage and “functional” fitness performance. My experience with Body Beast has been excellent, but from my perspective it is lacking the cardio challenge and flex/mobility work that I would like to see to further build well-rounded, balanced athletic endurance. As such, I have already created popular hybrids with MANY OTHER BEACHBODY PROGRAMS! 25 Minute Speed Train has a comprehensive lifting focus using dynamic compound movements in targeted volume training plus core in 6 lifting days per week (plus one flex/mobility day) and flexible nutrition! Although 25 Minute Speed Train primarily involves lighter weights due to the tempo time under tension volume formats, there are HIIT and burnout components to enhance the cardio challenge in the routines. First, I have to say 25 Minute Speed Train will be great “as is” for most people, especially busy people with limited time or significant travel. As such, I will likely hit up Speed Train workouts even more when I am on the road. My new hybrid schedule is with 25 Minute Speed Train and Body Beast!!
Body Beast 25 Minute Speed Train Hybrid Deconstructed
Body Beast focuses on strength and mass gain with muscle-specific challenges via dynamic set training using weights. As mentioned, 25 Minute Speed Train provides extra focus on developing total body strength via muscular endurance and enhanced flexibility/mobility performance leveraging body weight, dumbbells and resistance loops for burnouts to elevate heart rates. The Speed Train workouts are shorter overall in the 25-min range vs. average workout time of approx. 37-min for Body Beast. I really like both programs a lot and after doing all 51 25 Minute Speed Train workouts I have realized that the program would align well in a hybrid format with Body Beast.
I decided to create this hybrid for myself (and you) to add in some more resistance variation with my favorite lifting workouts in Body Beast. I have always been a big fan of the Body Beast Deluxe Tempo workouts of Chest/Tris and Back/Bis. I believe tempo format is one of the best to help drive progress and break plateaus in fitness goals. I was excited to press play on Speed Train given the program focuses heavily on varied tempo counts and workout formats to increase time under tension loads. I was not disappointed. However, I found the Speed Train formats relatively short and it was missing some key components aligned with my goals; heavy weights at lower reps to drive hypertrophy, pull-ups/chin-ups, rest day, and longer workout formats to consistently fully challenge muscle groups to failure. As such, I took some of my own advice to Joel in my 25 Minute Speed Train review by stacking his two Upper Body and two Lower Body workouts into one day each to free up time in the calendar week for a mid-week rest to facilitate recovery plus hybrid in some Body Beast to add variety to the exercises. Stacking 2 x Upper Body on Day 1 followed by 2 x Lower Body on Day 2 to start the week is definitely challenging, which makes this a tough schedule! The hybrid is created leveraging the entire schedule from Speed Train since they are ALL unique workouts. As such, the hybrid ends up being a more traditional 3 month focus. The Speed Train weeks are broken up after each 2 week schedule that alternates the order and format for workouts. I also added in my favorite Body Beast TEMPO workouts to finish the hybrid STRONG! Enjoy!!
Joel Freeman is a GREAT complement to Sagi Kalev in this hybrid. This may be one of the most effective hybrids I have created to date. What I love about Sagi’s Body Beast program is that the workouts focus on one or two SPECIFIC muscle groups and force failure to grow (you know, like life in general!). Joel Freeman also pushes you to fail from a strength and core perspective using fast pacing between sets and blocks plus tempo burnouts. That is why I was excited to create a Body Beast 25 Minute Speed Train Hybrid to maximize results for muscle gain with hypertrophy while promoting functional fitness.
I am unaware of ANY Body Beast 25 Minute Speed Train workout schedule for these programs and certainly none yet that have been vetted from personal experience with EVERY workout on the schedule. I have done that, unlike those “random generator” hybrid schedulers out there that are different every time (and typically unsafe!). In this hybrid 50+ unique 25 Minute Speed Train workouts are represented (including Flexibility & Mobility 1 and 2). These programs are amazing on their own, but a Body Beast 25 Minute Speed Train Hybrid allows you to build mass, get ripped, enhance mobility while adding functional strength and endurance aligned in ONE schedule (while having fun)!
